Funky Butt Club

Cumberland Arms Funky Butt Club Spring 2012
James Place Street
Ouseburn
Newcastle upon Tyne NE6 1LD

Sunday 22 April 2012
5pm-10pm

£3 on the door

Back from their winter record buying sorties to Scandinavia and North Africa, Lord Leigh Park and Lady Koo will present a worldwide selection of musical cuts with an emphasis on good time ska, reggae, soul and rhythm and blues.

You’ll also find some latin, African funk and township jive thrown in for good measure, and all of it good for dancing and feelin’ good.

Forget about acting cool, all we want to see is a seriously friendly crowd of upbeat hipsters from 18-80, with a welcome absence of losers, cruisers and bruisers.

Resistance is futile!

Our playlist includes:

Toots & the Maytals and Black Uhuru
Sam Cooke and Nina Simone
The Clash and Linton Kwesi Johnson
Fela Kuti and Bhundu Boys
The Supremes and James Brown
The Specials and Otis Redding
The Beat and Smokey Robinson
Lady Saw and Tanya Stephens
The Staple Singers and Dexy’s Midnight Runners
The Selector and Ray Charles
The Wailers and Lee Scratch Perry
Skatalites and Al Green
Desmond Dekker and Jimmy Cliff
Celia Cruz and Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five
Tito Puente and Ray Barreto
Ska Cubano and Booker T & the MGs
Ike & Tina Turner and Franco
Yellowman and Big Joe Turner
Aretha Franklin … and much much more …

So come on down and meet the folks!!
